Birthday Food

From LRC:
What a pleasure to open Emily's blog this morning and see Emmett's sweet face. Be sure to scroll down and see the little gallery of adorable pics celebrating him at 10 months. We also celebrate Emily's life today -- Happy birthday, friend! (And thanks to Kelly Rollett for confirming the date in my overcrowded mind!)

If I'm remembering correctly, Emily is not able to eat today in preparation for surgery, so will you join me in serving her a spiritual birthday meal? Please post any scripture that you praying over her this week or song or hymn you are singing over her. (Or if you're uncomfortable posting, feel free to e-mail them to her.) How grateful I am that He gives us the peace-loving weapons of worship and the Word. Today we are focusing on prayers against discomfort in surgery prep. Here's a start:

From Psalm 144:
Part your heavens, O Lord, and come down;
touch the mountains, so that they smoke.
Send forth lightning and scatter the enemies;
shoot your arrows and rout them.
Reach down your hand from on high;
deliver Emily and rescue her
from the mighty waters, ...

And from Joachim Neander (public domain):
Praise to the Lord,
the Almighty, the King of creation.
O my soul, praise him,
for he is thy health and salvation.
All ye who hear, now to his temple draw near;
join me in glad adoration. ...

Praise to the Lord,
who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
surely his goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew
what the Almighty can do,
who with his love doth befriend thee.
